Disney scrapbook

Did you just return from a Disney World vacation? You’ll enjoy these Mickey Mouse and Disneyland scrapbooking ideas. Don’t just use pre-made Disney papers and stickers. Find ways to make your Disney World scrapbook page layouts more personal and unique.

When thinking about Mickey Mouse and Disney scrapbooking ideas, start by choosing your focal point for your scrapbooking layout. If you start with your embellishments first, your main subject may be overshadowed by them.

You don’t want it to look like you just scattered your embellishments on your page. Choose them carefully so they accent your subject and highlight your page layout. In most cases, less is more when it comes to page embellishments.

Enough though it’s tempting to try to add all your Mickey Mouse and Disney scrapbooking supplies to your pages, it won’t look organized and well put together. Keep this in mind as you plan out your page layout.

If you have leftover Disney scrapbooking supplies, make a gift album for a grandparent. If you don’t have enough Disney accents, make Mickey ears on one corner of your page using 2 half circles. You can draw a roller coaster by using curving lines through your page layout.

Making your own pre-made Disney scrapbooking embellishments is easy. Consider your cost savings before you buy too many pre-made embellishments and accents.

Mickey Mouse and Disney scrapbooking ideas can also get very creative. You might take a picture of your baby and draw Mickey ears over his head.

You can place a sticker of Mickey Mouse right into a photo and make it look like he is right there with you. Take an outline or large sticker of the state of Florida or California and use it as your page background.

Making Disney-themed scrapbooking page layouts is only limited by your creativity and imagination.

Be the envy of your friends at your next scrapbooking crop!
Scrapbooking Tips for a Vacation Scrapbook

When you are packing for your vacation, you never forget your camera, but do you remember to consider how you will be scrapbooking your vacation pictures before you leave on your trip? Planning your vacation scrapbooking pages before you begin your trip makes it easier and quicker to design a beautiful vacation album when you get home. Here are a few tips to think about when planning a vacation scrapbooking album.

Your Vacation Scrapbooking Album

Most of us plan our vacations well in advance. It’s never too early to start shopping for a vacation scrapbooking album. You want one that will reflect the theme or location of your trip. Consider a location-specific album like Disney or Hawaiian scrapbooks. You may prefer a beach-themed album or a general vacation album.Planning ahead will give you lots of time to check your local craft store or scrapbooking store for specials and sales. You can even buy a plain, chipboard-covered album and design your own scrapbook cover.

Embellishments and Your Vacation Scrapbook Album

While you are shopping for your scrapbook, check to see what products are available to coordinate with it. Planning in advance allows you to take advantage of sales on embellishments as well. Choose page elements and paper that will work well with the location and themes of your vacation photos. Keep all your embellishments with the album you have chosen together in one place. They’ll be ready when you return from your trip.

Writing About Your Vacation

Remembering the details of your vacation is part of the journaling process on your scrapbooking page layouts. Make it easier by keeping notes or writing in a journal during your trip. Note the dates and the places you visit as well as your feelings and thoughts. Now when you return home, journaling in your scrapbook will be quick, easy and more detailed. You can even tear a few pages from the journal and include them right in your layouts.

Planning Photographs of Your Vacation

Pre-plan some of your vacation photographs. You will want a photograph that can be used as the title page of your vacation scrapbook. If you’re going a cruise, a picture of the ship would work well for this.If it is Disneyland, take a photograph of the Disneyland sign.Don’t forget to include yourself in your vacation photos. Before you leave on your trip, make a list of what photographs you want to remember to take. Tuck the list in your camera bag so it’s always handy.

Vacation Mementos

You will want to collect mementos of your trip to include in your vacation scrapbook.Pack small, plastic bags to hold them so they will not be damaged during your trip back home. Save tickets to parks and shows, menus or napkins, maps and brochures. You will definitely want to add these to your page layouts.

A little planning will make your vacation scrapbook album come together easily.Get your photographs printed as soon as you get home, and then begin working on your layouts while your memories are still fresh in your memory. Following these scrapbooking tips, you’ll have everything you need when you arrive home to design a beautiful keepsake of your trip.

Adding wording and verbiage to your scrapbook pages is important and fun and a part of creating scrapbook albums. You may be using scrapbook titles or you may be adding actual paragraphs to your page, and of course sometimes you want to add the name of your photo subject or a location and date for some pictures. Wording can really make your page come alive and can help you remember times and locations for vacation or other photos, and certainly the add some personalization as well – the name of the pet is often used on pages with their pictures, and baby pages usually have the child’s full name as well. But there are some creative and fun ways you can use scrapbook titles to make them seem as actual elements on the page, not just an addition or afterthought.

For one, a great way to tie a scrapbook together is with scrapbook titles. As an example, if you’re putting together a wedding scrapbook album you might want to use different short phrases or words that pertain to a wedding or to romance, and add these on the same spot on every page in the same font. Your scrapbook titles will give your pages a cohesive look. You can do this with a vacation scrapbook, graduation album, or with just about any album you create.

Try using scrapbook titles as borders for your photos or borders for your mementos. For example, you can use “baby girl” for a photo of your daughter, but put “baby” above it and “girl” below it so it gives the impression of a frame for your photo. This helps to anchor your photo and draws the eye toward it as well. Some scrapbookers use 3 small photographs all taken from the same angle, but one right after the other on their layouts; using scrapbook titles can help tie these photos together. You can use three simple words, one under each page, to give them a nice flow.

And of course you want to pay attention to the font or type styles you use for scrapbook titles as well. Smaller sizes may mean simpler fonts so that you can read the words; save the fancy scrollwork for the larger lettering!Or mix them up – one word plain, the next word fancy, the next one plain, and so on. This will give some personality to your scrapbooking page layouts and really help the wording stand out as well.

Are you looking for a way to preserve your memories? Tired of displaying photos in a boring flip book? Looking for a great and inexpensive hobby? If you find yourself agreeing with any of this then you may be well suited to scrapbooking. Some people scrapbooking for the first time feel a little nervous starting out. It is much easier than initially thought. You simply need to know what scrapbooking is, how to get started, where to get materials, and how you can get better.

What is scrapbooking?

The idea behind creating a scrapbook it to preserve your most precious memories in a way that is both interesting and creative. Basically, scrapbooking starts with a scrapbook and some pictures from a memory or a set of memories that you want to display. A scrapbook usually centers around a specific event such as a holiday or birthday. The backbone of a scrapbook is that each page is decorated by hand and will add to the feel of a memory much more than a standard photo album could. In a scrapbook each page has an individual feel that fits into the main theme of the book.

How to get started with scrapbooking?

Scrapbookers begin every book by collecting all of the photographs and materials in one location. Once you have all of your memories in front of you start sorting them out. Arrange them into groups, theme, date or a way that makes logical sense to you. Once you have achieved this, take some time to figure out which scrapbook you would like to start with. When you have decided the real fun begins! Select the scrapbook you want to begin with and crack it open. To make sure you book sticks to the same theme, make sure you have the first page layout complete before moving onto the second. Don’t stress too much though, remember – its supposed to be a fun and creative activity.

Where to get scrapbooking materials?

You can find scrapbooking materials in all sorts of places. The obvious place is in craft stores. When you drop in, you will find a large amount of stickers and odds and ends to have a look at. Additionally, there are many stores dedicated to selling scrapbook materials online. The great thing about online vendors is that typically their inventory is much larger. However, do not disregard the contents of you home office or craft bin. A lot of scrappers get their materials from offcuts, leftover paper and cardboard and other craft bits.

How to improve?

The great thing about scrapbooking is that you can always get better. Looking on the Internet will net you a bunch of great websites and suppliers of scrapbook materials. many people learn differently and many benefit from attending scrapbooking classes where people pass on ideas and techniques. A scrapbooking club is also another way to learn scrapbooking, share ideas and present your scrapbooks to other scrappers.

Take a notebook or a mundane daily diary or journal and add some decoration with a border and you end up with a scrapbook. The notebook, diary, journal or scrapbooks have the same basis for production. They all are filled with thoughts, ideas and feelings. What separates a scrapbook from the others is the visual impact and beauty of the production. In a way, the scrapbook allows you to show off your events or thoughts so that other people will enjoy seeing it. All these mentioned items preserve memorabilia and legacies. It is just that the scrapbook dabbles in creativity and imagination whereas the other items are plain and simple.

Just as with many other facets of life these days, scrapbooking has also been changed with the advent of the computer, internet and things like printers and scanners. These items of hardware have the same effect as the printing press on scrapbook presentations. They all make the process faster and easier. Desktop publishing and new software has also made scrapbooking easier for everyone. You could have a scrapbook and not use a single piece of paper. Doing this is known as digital scrapbooking and it has taken off in popularity. Whereas all these new-fangled computerized methods use to be the domain of geeks and techno-nerds, they have now branched out to the practice of scrapbooking. People of all ages from anywhere in the world now have access to many things to help them produce their own special scrapbooks. Because of the internet and lots of scrapbook oriented websites, the options have skyrocketed. Never in the past could someone do as much as they can now. Another facet of digital scrapbooking fits in very nicely with the world of social networking. Sites like Myspace and Facebook are a good match for displaying your scrapbooking skills.

Over the years, scrapbooking has gone from a hobby for elitists to today where it is a viable commercial activity. Both brick-and-mortar locations and websites have mushroomed into what you see today. It used to be a small scale activity but now it is expanding day by day. With all the new entries into the scrapbooking industry, there are new scrapbooking techniques and lots of them. Because of the myriad of choices for scrapbooking, it is hard to pigeonhole particular scrapbooking techniques. There really is no right or wrong way to decorate a scrapbook. This leads to new and unique scrapbooking techniques every day. Don’t get me wrong, there are scrapbook techniques that will definitely benefit your presentation but a little bit of imagination with a smidgeon of creativity will go a long way.

So where does one go to look for new and different scrapbooking techniques? There are websites, books, and friends who also scrapbook. Scrapbooking is a learning experience and while you are creating your masterpiece, you will see interesting techniques you may not have thought of in the past. Go ahead use them and share them with your friends. Get them to share their scrapbooking techniques too.

When you plan your scrapbook, take some time and think the whole process through to the finished project. You start out with the most important portion of the scrapbook; the paper. Paper should be sturdy with a long life and be acid-free. You want your work around for a long time and the correct paper is essential for long life. As you plan the design of your scrapbook, keep mental notes about different supplies needed. Supplies such as pens, inks and stencils should be carefully planned for to make your project. Go into each scrapbook with the correct planning and you will find it easier to express your thoughts and end up with beautiful presentations.

A lot of scrapbooking techniques highlight the need to have index pages or highlight pages. They will inform you about where to locate them and how to display them. These special pages should be instantly noticeable as special pages with unique colors and symbols. Another way to distinguish pages is with bookmarks with tassels. Tassels are both decorative and functional in a scrapbook.

There are many elements to the art of decoration. Decoration shouldn’t be overdone as it will make your project look gaudy. The right type of decoration is critical in scrapbooking techniques. Choose decoration carefully with planning before you start. Visualize it and then go with it. There are many choices you can use. Stamps, embellishments, rub-ons, stickers, snow globes etc. can really glitz up your scrapbook if not done to excess. Choose carefully and use each appropriately.

Want more versatility for your scrapbook? Here are a few ways to add impact to your project. You can add pop-up pages, trinkets that are attached to pages, punch craft, peek-a-boo and panoramic pages to make your scrapbook unique and wonderful. Scrapbook techniques are limitless and very diverse. Go ahead and explore these techniques and add versatility to your scrapbooks. [http://www.funtoscrapbook.com]Been there, done that, scrapped a page about it

Are you ready to learn how to start scrapbooking, but aren’t sure where to start? Well, you’re in the right place – here is a quick-start guide on how to start scrapbooking.

Scrapbooking is a popular method of preserving and presenting your photos and memoirs. It’s a great hobby that anyone can enjoy.

In order to start scrapbooking, there are six items you must have. Here are the required items:

1. Photos or memorabilia: Scrapbooking starts with your photos and memoirs. Choose photos or memoirs that are meaningful to you and your family.

2. An acid free, lignin free album: There are a LOT of album choices. To keep your photos safe over time, you must have a good album with acid-free, lignin-free pages.

3. Page protectors: These are required to protect the finished pages in your album. Fingerprints and food are NOT good for photos.

4. Photo-safe adhesive: You must find a good photo-safe adhesive, look for one that you like to use.

5. Black pigma ink pen: Journaling is what adds life to scrapbooking pages. These pens are safe for journaling in scrapbooks.

6. Scissors: Sometimes you need to crop (or cut) photos to emphasize certain subjects. It’s necessary to have a great pair of scissors to use when starting a scrapbook project.

Once you’ve completed your scrapbooking needs list, it’s time to start scrapbooking.

The first step to start scrapbooking is to organize your photos and memoirs. You can organize your photos chronologically or by theme or by any method of your choice. It’s your choice, it’s your decision!

After you have your photos sorted, it’s time to start planning your page. The simplest way to plan a page is to place your photos on the album page and move them around as desired until you find a layout that appeals to you. Once you’ve found a layout that you like, it’s time to use your photo-safe adhesive and glue your photos on the album page. Spend a few minutes writing about the photos (this is your journaling). When you’ve finished journaling and have the photos glued on, you are ready to slide on a page protector and that’s it! You just mastered how to start scrapbooking! Easy, wasn’t it?

With the six scrapbooking must have items – photos, album, page protectors, photo-safe adhesive, black ink pen and scissors – you are prepared to start scrapbooking! Happy Scrapping!

Woudn’t it be a dream to profit from your love of scrapbooking? Here are four of the most popular ways to earn money from your scrapbooking hobby:

1. Become a Scrapbook Consultant

Research the variety of direct sales scrapbooking companies that allow you to earn a commission on products that you sell at scrapbooking classes, crops, and other events. Some such direct sales companies have very flexible provisions that could even allow you to sign up just to get the consultant
discount on your own supplies – or the supplies you use in custom scrapbooks that you make for others.

2. Teach Scrapbooking Locally

Offer to teach at scrapbooking stores, or community education centers – or work with a direct sales company to offer classes in Card making, Mini Albums, Scrapbooking 101, Rubber Stamping, About Me Scrapbooking, and more. Also consider offering classes that revolve around special events in people’s lives. For example, you can help people plan baby showers and wedding showers in which guests come together to learn about scrapbooking and make a treasured memento in the process. This is an amazing way to make valuable difference in people’s lives and relationships.

3. Create Custom Scrapbooks For Others

Some companies are starting to offer comprehensive kits that make this process much easier, with everything you need to create albums for others along various themes. You can charge by the page or by the hour. Sue DiFranco of Fun Facts Publishing (http://www.funfactspublishing.com) has published an informative book on this topic, titled ‘Make Money Making Scrapbooks for Others,’ which is particularly helpful when trying to determine how to price your work. Check out this yahoogroup for more information on this option, as well: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Scrapping4Others.

4. Set up a Scrapbooking Store Online

Whether you stock your own products or become an affiliate of an existing online scrapbooking store, this is a fun way to build a career in scrapbooking, no matter where you live – though the overhead on starting your own store can be high. You may want to investigate the ecommerce capabilities and policies of various direct sales scrapbooking companies, as well, to reduce your overhead still further.

A scrapbooking business is one of the most rewarding opportunities as it allows you to help people in your community to capture and celebrate life. Enjoy discovering the opportunities for making a
scrapbooking business work for you!

Susie Cortright is the founder of Momscape’s Scrapbooking Playground at http://www.momscape.com/scrapbooking and a Team Captain for a large group of scrapbooking instructors.

Digital Scrapbooking has taken the Scrapbooking World by storm over the last couple of years. It is very much the creative craft of the Now Age. But what is this phenomenon all about?

Digital Scrapbooking or Computer Scrapbooking, as it’s sometimes known, is the creation of scrapbook layouts using a graphics editing software program. The beauty of it is you can view your creations on your computer, print them out and frame them or put them into an album, or share them with family and friends around the world via email.

You can create stunning displays of your treasured moments; showcasing your stories for now and future generations.

And the huge advantage with Digital Scrapbooking is there’s no mess, no special workspace and no need to buy lots of supplies.

Digital Scrapbooking will unlock a creativity that you never knew you possessed.

Unlike with traditional scrapbooking, if you make a mistake on your digital scrapbook layout you just reverse out of it. With no tears over your ruined supplies. This tends to make you more creative and adventurous in what you will try on your layouts. It’s like having a built in safety net. And we all do better when we feel we’re in a safe environment.

And if that wasn’t enough, with no setting up or clearing away needed you can stop and start your projects whenever you get a little ‘me-time’ available to you. And absolute boon with today’s busy lifestyles.

So how to you learn how to digital scrapbook?

Well there are many tutorials and digital scrapbooking elements available on the Internet to help you expand your digital scrapbooking skills.

But it can still be a bit daunting for newbies when they are thrown into it at the deep end. That’s why web sites like http://www.StepByStepDigitalScrapbook.com are a blessing for beginners.

Karen Bellamy has been scrapbooking for over 5 years and digital scrapbooking for over 3. She writes the very successful blog Scraps of Mind.

Karen firmly believes everyone has a creative side ready to be revealed and she has created a web site called StepByStepDigitalScrapbook.com which is specifically designed to help beginners to digital scrapbooking get started turning their own special photos into creative art works they can share with friends and family around the World. http://www.StepByStepDigitalScrapbook.com is packed with information, videos and tutorials to get your started. And if you need some extra personal help or are nervous about dealing with the technology, you can join her mentoring program and get some hand holding coaching to really kick start your digital scrapbooking journey.

You have probably been hearing about the latest buzz – digital scrapbooking. What is it anyway? Instead of scrapbooking using paper, adhesives, and stamps, digital scrapbooking can be done entirely on the computer. This is achieved by using programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop Elements. I’m sure you have even seen the computer programs made especially for digital scrapbooking.

What’s the hype? Well, there are actually a lot of advantages to digital scrapbooking – which would make any religious paper crafter gasp. Digital scrapbooking allows unlimited space for storage. We have all been to the point where we can’t fit even another brad into our scrap space before it all comes tumbling to the ground. With your computer, you can store all of your photos, layouts, albums, and tools right in your hard drive. Along with aiding in organization and space saving, digital scrapbooking is a big money saver as well. When you begin, you would need to invest in the following:

1. a computer (if you don’t already have one)

2. CD burner (to burn all of your layouts/albums onto a CD)

3. software (a program to help you create your digital masterpieces)

4. a scanner or digital camera (to transfer photos to your PC)

You may look at this list and groan at the thought of the total cost that will ring up on the register, but these are all one-time purchases. How many times have we had to buy more glue dots, more vellum, or that new tool out on the market that we just can’t live without?

We know these facts won’t impress every paper crafter out there, but maybe they will help us realize that there is room for digital scrapping within the world of paper crafting.

Kara Clark is a professional scrapbooker and founded The Scrap Corner in early 2006. She wanted to create a place where scrapbooker’s could find everything they need. From daily articles and tips to a city guide that scrapbooker’s can find the best stores near them, The Scrap Corner is the best source for everything scrapbook. There is even a FREE monthly newsletter to keep visitors informed on the newest products on the market and events happening within the industry.
